For two nights only! This Malay opera performance is a tribute to troupe’s founder, the late Haji Hamid Ahmad.
Regenerating Communities @ Empress Place is a special three-part arts and culture initiative conceived by The Old Parliament House Limited, which manages The Arts House. The initiative which entails free programmes, draws on Singapore’s rich cultural heritage by featuring mainly traditional art forms – their personalities and masters, once well-known but now near forgotten. Artistically curated by Jeremiah Choy, these rare performances aim to revitalize and reaffirm Empress Place a s a place of heritage. For this third installment, we bring back to you the glamour of Bangsawan, a very popular form of entertainment in Singapore in the 20’s & 30’s.
