BUT IS THE BOOK BETTER?: THE RING

Genre: Film

Presented by The Arts House.

With the doors to the underworld opening this month, we welcome the spirits with screenings of Kaidan, or Japanese ghost stories. These films feature grotesque faces, strange fetishes and the ugly side of human nature that will leave chills running down your spine. Not for the faint-hearted!

Director: Gore Verbinski
Cast: Naomi Watts, Martin Henderson, David Dorfman
2002 | 115 min | US | PG

A reporter hears stories of a videotape that kills everyone who sees it exactly one week after viewing. She is sceptical at first but begins to investigate after her niece dies. Strange things start happening after she views the tape with her son and it becomes a race against time to find out why the tape is killing everyone and how it can be stopped.

Based on 1991 horror novel Ring by Koji Suzuki.

Here are the other films featured this month:

The Arm (a double bill with The Whistler)
The Whistler (a double bill with The Arm)
The Nose (a double bill with The Days After)
The Days After (a double bill with The Nose)
