PROVERSE PRIZE 2013

The international Proverse Prize is for unpublished fiction, non-fiction or poetry submitted in English. Entry is open to all aged 18 or above on the date they sign the Entry Documents, irrespective of residence, nationality or citizenship. Translations into English are welcome. Work may be previously edited, acknowledging the editor.

The winner receives publication of the entered work and HK$10,000. Additional publication prizes may be awarded.

The deadline for receipt of completed Entry Document and Entry Fees is 31 May 2013. The Entry Documents are available from the Proverse website. For enquiries, please write to info@proversepublishing.com.

Joshua Chiang breathes new life into some of the wisest words ever spoken with an enthralling menagerie of animal characters created especially for this collection. Each illustration is rendered in a pencil-and-digital watercolour style, and paired with a saying or an excerpt from writings by sages and literary figures. Joshua's animal characters speak with endearing postures, and grab the reader's sheart with the beauty of their fine visual lines matched with the collective wisdom of the ages.

AFTER WORDS: Beyond 5-7-5: English-language haiku today

In this engaging session, writer and poet Leonard Ng explores various approaches towards writing contemporary English-language haiku, and shares some simple principles for writing your own poems. Leonard will also share from his debut collection of poems, This Mortal World, which was shortlisted for the 2012 Singapore Literature Prize.
